The 2nd House:
It all began the day you were born
If you were to look up at the sky the moment your first scream announced your entrance into the world, and you could see straight to the stars with an understanding of what planet was sitting within which zodiacal constellation, you would be looking at what astrologers represent as a birth chart. Thankfully, today we can pull up that information with the internet.
When astrologers pull this information about what the sky looked like the moment you were born, it is represented as a circle divided into 12 sections called houses. Each house is related to a different area of life and the oversimplified version of the 2nd house is this: it’s about your money.
Everything You Want Wants You
Nothing in astrology is simple or cut and dry. Every planet, sign, house, and astrological signature is filled with nuance and complexity. But simply put, the 2nd House deals with your relationship to your material world and the innate skills (or external resources) you have access to that could create financial wellbeing for you. But not only does your 2nd House speak to what internal (and external) valuables you have access to, it also speaks to what you value.
For example, if there was such a thing as a “cow farmer” signature, let’s say you found that mark present in your birth chart’s 2nd house. In this bovine example, perhaps you already know about yourself that you value being self-sufficient and that you don’t ever want to have to rely on “big grocery” to be able to feed your family. Or perhaps you abhor animal cruelty and wish someone could show a model for how factory dairy farming can be done ethically with humane animal treatment. Now let’s also pretend that even though you have this signature, your primary means of income comes from being a professor at a private university. Though a noble profession, because of this hypothetical second house set up, I’m guessing you wouldn’t be very fulfilled personally or financially.
The plot milkshake thickens
As an astrologer, upon looking at your birth chart, I may suggest saving up to buy a cow and then starting a cow farm. Now, to many people, that kind of suggestion would seem crazy. But to you, it makes sense and somehow feels right. So you save as much money as you can to buy one cow and quickly discover that you not only enjoy, but have a passion for cow farming .That combination of being connected to your work and being good at it, led to your one-cow venture being so successful that you were able to purchase another cow…then a bull and then bam! You don't dance now, you make money mooooves. This kind of alignment is what happens when you make financial decisions in accordance with what your birth chart details as the skills you possess, the talents the world will materially reward you for, and your guiding principles which are found by exploring your 2nd house.
You are the bag, secure yourself
I named my business 2nd House Astrology because yes, I want all of my clients to have the amount of money they need to not experience the anxiety and distress that comes when your material needs are not routinely met. But my aim is to be able to help you attain financial health through means that feel good to YOU because they are aligned with your values and natural skill sets. In astrology, there are many places to look for information about your money, but it all begins in your 2nd house.
